Today was Legacy Day. It is one day of the semester where we as young leaders leave our mark on campus. It involves hard labor, sweat and teamwork, fueled by the internal flame of love of our community that burns in all of our souls. We all worked together to plant trees, build trellises, thatched walls, garden beds, and a better community. It was led by the facilities crew and CEI volunteers who work so hard for us, and we are very grateful for their determined intentions to better the community. All of our projects were completed and we are very proud of our work. It was nice to see that we were immortal in the eyes of Island School students from this day forward. K2 arrived home safely from their Down Island Trip and had amazing stories to tell about their travels. One of which was the morning they shared their swim with two friendly dolphins, brushing up against these beautiful beasts, they had one of the most amazing and unforgettable experiences. We have to say goodbye again to them tomorrow as they depart for their 8-day kayak trip and solos. We will sleep well tonight knowing we have 12 more members of our community beside us and the fruits of our Legacy Day labors, standing tall and proud, watching gracefully over the peaceful campus.

Swimming w/ dolphins, how great! And your labors of Legacy Day, wow, can’t wait to see it all. Please tell Aly that her brother is out w/ our dolphin research friends looking for dolphins right now, as I read this. And yesterday he and I (Aly’s mom) went out with them and saw a tiny baby dolphin. So we love it that dolphins were seen on the down island trip. What adventures you ALL are having. As much as I miss Aly, I also feel the anticipation that this amazing experience is half over, ALREADY!

As I sit in a very long board meeting, but at the same time reading this article and looking at the pictures, makes me wonder, am I in the right place?
